Finding an area under a curve can be quite challenging, especially if you weren't introduced to integrals quite yet. What if you can find the estimates area of a curve by knowing the area of rectangles. Bernhard Riemann was able to make this possible. Bernhard Riemann was a German Mathematician in the 1800’s. Riemann sums is the name of a family of methods we can use to approximate the area under a curve. Through Riemann sums we come up with a formal definition for the definite integral.
Downy Park is a 35-acre landscape park in the heart of the City of Newburgh. It was designed Calvert Vaux (who also designed Central Park). It was named after Andrew Jackson Downing, who requested for the park to be built. The park was officially opened to the public in 1897. Many believe the park was a trial run for Central Park. The Shelter House (to the left) wasn’t created until 1934 by Gordon Marvel. It was created as a place to change your ice skates and grab a hot coco. It is now used for art shows and small meetings. It is well known for its beautiful arched windows.
